It’s been a whirlwind of fun and activity in Jacksonville these last few months. We’re so proud to have been a part of growing our community. It’s so exciting to see what Cedarhurst has coming, especially right now as we plan for our first holiday season in our new community.
For most of our staff, this all began in July. It was an extremely busy month as we began hiring and onboarding staff all while cleaning up our “dust” and preparing for residents. As a group we attended several parades and it was all hands-on deck and our families joined us in spreading the word to our local communities about Cedarhurst of Jacksonville. Then, on July 31st we invited the public into our community for the first time for our “Dusty Boot” open house. It was a huge success and all of us who helped give tours that day got well over our 10,000 steps. Every one attending was amazed by our beautiful, yet homelike community.
In September, we received our license and the real fun began on September 7th, as we began moving in all our residents that had been patiently waiting to come to their new homes.
On Sunday November 6th, 2016, Cedarhurst of Jacksonville celebrated its Grand Opening. It was the culmination of all these weeks of hard work and I think that all who attended would agree it was a grand success. Along with tours our guests could enjoy a variety of amazing food and beverages, prepared by Cedarhurst chefs. We enjoyed musical entertainment and we didn’t forget the little ones! We had face painting and games for children in our courtyards. We had help from team members from our sister communities and this just helped to reinforce that Team Cedarhurst is absolutely the BEST team to be on!! This was all in addition to our flag raising ceremony performed by the American Legion, Amvets and the Color Guard and ribbon cutting with the mayor of Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce before we opened the doors.
The week following our open house was business as usual, starting with an amazing display in our activity room and an emotion filled ceremony to celebrate our veterans. We also celebrated one of our residents 100th birthday, complete with a firework display to top it off.
Again, we are all so thankful to be a part of Cedarhurst of Jacksonville. Our team truly believe that it’s a joy and pleasure to go to work every day and enrich the lives of our older generation and they are thankful for the opportunity to do so. We can hope our residents realize how much they are enriching our lives.
