Cedarhurst Walks to End Alzheimer’s:
On Saturday, September 26th 2015 the Cedarhurst Living team Walked to End Alzheimer’s in Edwardsville, IL. We were incredibly moved and thrilled with the amount of people who joined us to share their support of those who have been touched by Alzheimer’s Disease.
The Alzheimer’s Association has created a Promise Garden in hopes to raise additional awareness. The Promise Garden consisted of 4 colors: Blue for those who have Alzheimer’s, Purple for those who have lost a loved one to Alzheimer’s, Yellow for those who are a support system or caregiver, and Orange for those who simply wish to support the cause and the vision of a world without Alzheimer’s. It was breathtaking to see all of the different colored flowers spinning in the wind during the opening ceremony and throughout the walk.
In preparation for our event, the Cedarhurst Living Communities each did fundraising efforts both together and on their own. Some of these efforts included:
- A Night at the Ballpark with the Gateway Grizzlies: Cedarhurst raised money at this event through ticket sales as well as a silent auction featuring beautiful gift baskets that were donated by local vendors, companies and family owned businesses.
- Celebrity Bar-tending Event: Cedarhurst Living teamed up with Home Instead to host a Celebrity Bar-tending event at Wings in Shiloh, IL. We were happy to have both Cedarhurst staff and family members present to help support us and raise money for a wonderful cause.
- T-shirt Sales: Each year, Cedarhurst Living creates a signature purple shirt for the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s. We open up t-shirt sales to employees, family members, friends and to the public.
- Donations: Cedarhurst welcomes donations for the Alzheimer’s Association at any point during the year.
Together, Cedarhurst able to raise well over $4,000 in donations to support the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The Edwardsville Walk to End Alzheimer’s 2015 has raised $131,975 (and counting) to help advance Alzheimer’s support, care and research. Donations can still be made by visiting HERE.
We would like to thank all of our wonderful employees, loving families and the support from our local communities for helping us raise donations and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association. Every dollar counts in helping families and those who live with Alzheimer’s Disease. We couldn’t have done this without you!
