Because it provides the resources your senior loved one needs to lead an enriching life, a senior living community may be the perfect place for them to call home. Not only do these bustling communities include various amenities and levels of support, but they also provide access to specially designed programs focused on improving health and maintaining overall wellness.
Although every senior living community is different, we set an especially high standard for care and connection at Cedarhurst. Let’s take a peek into what life is like for our residents and their families.
What to Expect from a Cedarhurst Senior Living Community
The senior living industry has changed vastly for the better in just the past few decades. A collective shift in focus from solely medical care to all-around wellness means that today, a senior living community is a safe, vibrant, and beautiful place to call home. And at Cedarhurst, each of our communities is unique, just like the residents who live there.
Types of Care
Your loved one’s experience at a Cedarhurst community begins with the type of care they receive. Each type of community, whether independent living, assisted living, or memory care, is designed to meet our residents’ individual needs and help them thrive.
Three main types of care available include the following, depending on location:
- Independent living is ideal for active older adults who are looking to downsize their homes while maximizing their lifestyle. At Cedarhurst independent living communities, residents enjoy beautiful apartments along with events that encourage socialization between neighbors and involvement with local organizations.
- Assisted living at Cedarhurst means around-the-clock access to caregivers who provide support with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as showering, dressing, or medication management. Residents receive the assistance and specialized care they need while also maintaining their independence.
- Memory care communities are designed especially for those living with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. Cedarhurst memory care features specially trained team members who provide assistance and encouragement with daily tasks.
Community Amenities
Beyond the individualized care available to residents, Cedarhurst communities also feature amenities such as chef-styled meals. For Betty, a resident at Cedarhurst of Lebanon, the dining experience is a feature she truly enjoys and takes advantage of daily. She says, “I have been so pleased here. The kitchen and dining room staff provide us with wonderful meals, as well as lots of yummy goodies.”
For Tim, the son of a resident at Cedarhurst of Blue Springs, the location and attention to detail are just a few reasons his mom loves living there. He raves, “Cedarhurst is the best senior community. From everything I have seen, from the beauty of the facility in general, the beautiful apartments, and the outside grounds, it is, in my opinion, the best in the area!”
Rhonda, a family member of a memory care resident at Cedarhurst of Highland, appreciates the sense of community. “Highland is really lovely because it’s a smaller community, so things are more personal. Everybody knows everybody. All of the staff know me by name, and they know my daughters and grandkids. It’s very nice to know you’re in an area that feels like family, and they care as much as you care.”
What Residents and Their Families Love About Cedarhurst
From adventurous outings to exciting on-site activities, a Cedarhurst senior living community has something to offer everyone. Each community employs a Life Enrichment team that plans various events and excursions, giving residents plenty of chances to try something new on their own or with neighbors. So, what else is there to love about living at Cedarhurst?
A Vibrant Lifestyle
Cedarhurst prioritizes overall wellness for every resident so they can live confidently. Janet, the daughter of a resident, notes how her parents’ move to Cedarhurst benefitted her whole family. “I wake up every day knowing Mom is not just safe but also really happy. She moved with my dad. He needed special care and they wanted to be together. Moving into Cedarhurst saved my mother’s life. It kept my parents close, and after Dad was gone, Mom wasn’t alone when she had a life-threatening emergency. I’m so happy that today she is safe and in a new phase of life with laughter and new friends.”
An Emphasis on Safety
All of the living spaces at Cedarhurst are specially designed to reduce the risk of falls and other accidents. Our senior-friendly apartments are fashioned to feel like home while providing the safety features to reassure residents and their families, no matter the circumstances.
Family members can enjoy the reassurance of knowing their loved one is safe in their home and within their community. Before moving to Cedarhurst, Shirley, a resident at Cedarhurst Assisted Living in Godfrey, suffered a severe fall in her house that required hospitalization. At that point, she and her family decided that living alone was no longer an option. She says of her experience, “After the fall, I knew it wasn’t safe for me to live by myself anymore. I agreed with my family, and we knew the best place for me was Cedarhurst.”
A Sense of Belonging
Life at Cedarhurst revolves around creating and maintaining meaningful connections with loved ones and others in the community. For Chris, the son of a Cedarhurst resident, the personalized care his father received throughout his senior living community experience made all the difference. He says, “Thank you for taking care of my Pop. A special heartfelt appreciation to those of you who laughed with him, held his hand, kissed him on his cheek, patiently fed him, or in any way helped him maintain his dignity and humanity. These acts of compassion meant more to me than words can describe.”
