  • Dr. Hart and his wife Margaret with a birthday cake

Doctor Richard Hart is devoted to his lovely wife Margaret, who has dementia. While still living at home, an unexpected leg injury suddenly prevented Dr. Hart from being his beloved wife’s caregiver. The couple decided to “try” Cedarhurst for three months. Years later, they’re still enjoying their apartments, each other’s company, new friends, and a unique butterfly garden. Butterflies? You read that right. Don’t miss this inspiring love story.

  • Shirley in her room holding a picture of her beloved husband Joe

Cedarhurst Assisted Living resident Shirley met Joe, the love of her life, in 1948. After a nearly 60-year love story, almost 10 years ago, Shirley lost her beloved Joe. Still very active and into gardening and social activities, Shirley continued living in the house she loved, doing the things she loved, and spending time with the people she loves. But then, a near tragedy struck. While home alone, Shirley had a fall that required hospitalization. “I knew it was time to look at Cedarhurst,” she said. “I didn’t want to leave Godfrey, so thank goodness they have a community here.”

  • “I am very pleased with the care my dad is getting at Cedarhurst of West Plains. The staff genuinely cares about the residents and they try to accommodate the individual interests of the residents. They have singing occasionally in the main gathering area that is wonderful to listen too. I would recommend this community to anyone looking for upscale assisted living.”

  • “After 10 years of my Mom living at 3 different assisted living communities, the Cedarhurst managed community was my favorite. It definitely felt like home because of the nurturing environment. The staff always had a smile on their faces and treated my mom with so much kindness and patience. The communication was top notch. Anytime I called, texted or emailed, a quick response was always provided. My mom constantly called the front desk, and others and was always answered with a calming voice. Anytime she asked for assistance, they were there helping her within minutes! Her room opened onto a lovely courtyard, so she tended to her plants and bird feeder. She moved in during Covid, so this was a plus after not having any access to the outside at her previous communities. Mom moved down to Florida this past summer to be closer to other family members. We miss her and she misses all the love and attention they showed her!”

  • “We moved my mother-in-law into Cedarhurst in June. What a wonderful experience! She is struggling with her mobility and some memory issues and has been taken care of so well. We live over 700 miles away and feel so blessed to have the attentive staff looking after her. Communication is great. The activities are amazing and sound so fun. She is very active and is having a great time. We are very happy with the decision to move her into Cedarhurst.”

  • “I can’t begin to say thank you enough to every member of the staff at Cedarhurst! My mom had a stroke and needed a place to go and they were able to work miracles and get me through the paperwork very quickly. The staff is so caring so I know I did the right thing putting mom in assisted living.”
