Doctor Richard Hart is devoted to his lovely wife Margaret, who has dementia. While still living at home, an unexpected leg injury suddenly prevented Dr. Hart from being his beloved wife’s caregiver. The couple decided to “try” Cedarhurst for three months. Years later, they’re still enjoying their apartments, each other’s company, new friends, and a unique butterfly garden. Butterflies? You read that right. Don’t miss this inspiring love story.

Shelby Jean’s memory issues were preventing her from enjoying all of the things that previously brought her joy. She even stopped communicating altogether. Worried about her mother’s isolation, Shelby Jean’s daughter Shelly took her for a visit to Cedarhurst. Shelby Jean was reluctant and nervous, so it was a shock to Shelly when she realized her mother was engaging with others and didn’t want to leave. That was just the start of Shelby Jean’s Cedarhurst memory care journey. Get the rest of the story. (Spoiler: She’s thriving!)

Cedarhurst Assisted Living resident Shirley met Joe, the love of her life, in 1948. After a nearly 60-year love story, almost 10 years ago, Shirley lost her beloved Joe. Still very active and into gardening and social activities, Shirley continued living in the house she loved, doing the things she loved, and spending time with the people she loves. But then, a near tragedy struck. While home alone, Shirley had a fall that required hospitalization. “I knew it was time to look at Cedarhurst,” she said. “I didn’t want to leave Godfrey, so thank goodness they have a community here.”

For Bob, it was important to ensure that, as he ages, he’s in the right place. He knows how detrimental a fall can be for someone his age—and he wants to make sure if it happens to him, he’s where the care is. “I don’t have to worry about falling and nobody being here,” Bob said. “And I get to enjoy every day. The activities are just great." Read on to see how this family man decided to make the next phase of his life a carefree adventure.

“I am very pleased with the care my dad is getting at Cedarhurst of West Plains. The staff genuinely cares about the residents and they try to accommodate the individual interests of the residents. They have singing occasionally in the main gathering area that is wonderful to listen too. I would recommend this community to anyone looking for upscale assisted living.”

“After 10 years of my Mom living at 3 different assisted living communities, the Cedarhurst managed community was my favorite. It definitely felt like home because of the nurturing environment. The staff always had a smile on their faces and treated my mom with so much kindness and patience. The communication was top notch. Anytime I called, texted or emailed, a quick response was always provided. My mom constantly called the front desk, and others and was always answered with a calming voice. Anytime she asked for assistance, they were there helping her within minutes! Her room opened onto a lovely courtyard, so she tended to her plants and bird feeder. She moved in during Covid, so this was a plus after not having any access to the outside at her previous communities. Mom moved down to Florida this past summer to be closer to other family members. We miss her and she misses all the love and attention they showed her!”

“We moved my mother-in-law into Cedarhurst in June. What a wonderful experience! She is struggling with her mobility and some memory issues and has been taken care of so well. We live over 700 miles away and feel so blessed to have the attentive staff looking after her. Communication is great. The activities are amazing and sound so fun. She is very active and is having a great time. We are very happy with the decision to move her into Cedarhurst.”

“I can’t begin to say thank you enough to every member of the staff at Cedarhurst! My mom had a stroke and needed a place to go and they were able to work miracles and get me through the paperwork very quickly. The staff is so caring so I know I did the right thing putting mom in assisted living.”

“I have worked here, this is a beautiful place to work. The staff is great! Residents are awesome! Atmosphere is warm and caring. The amenities are great! Nice to see a Movie Theater in a community. The rooms are like apartments, so residents maintain their independence, with dignity. I love it here!”

“My mom has lived at Cedarhurst for almost 3 years now. She is very happy with her apartment and the staff who care for her. We (the daughters) have peace of mind knowing that mom is watched over and well cared for. I highly recommend Cedarhurst of Edison Lakes.”

“Everyone I have come in contact with is very nice and helpful. They speak to me about my dad as I am coming and going. They know what is going on with the residents there. I had someone answer emails on her "off" time (wasn't expected from her). Everyone has really worked with me and helped in any way they can to make things easier/better. Yes, you may be able to get other places cheaper, but you may get what you pay for too, and when it's your loved one's health and care, then...well that's up to you I suppose. I highly recommend this community.”

“Cedarhurst of Arnold is beautiful! But what sets this place apart from anywhere else is the amazing staff. Everyone that works here is dedicated to the residents that live here. The staff is always smiling and willing to help each other out.”

“This community is top notch from the admissions office all the way through every discipline. I am a medical professional who deals with many communities of all kinds on a daily basis & I highly recommend this one. My mom is in their memory care unit and is getting such good care in a safe environment which is now her home & they treat her like family. Recently, the quick and professional actions toward a medical emergency gave mom the attention needed for recovery. The environment is clean, comfortable, happy, and the residents can enjoy being outside in an enclosed courtyard. I highly recommend this community for your loved one or as a place of employment.”

“My experience with Cedarhurst was beyond my expectations. My mom moved in during a pandemic but I never felt cut off. The staff did everything they could to communicate with us. The memory care unit is the best! During mom’s final days we were welcomed, comforted, and grieved with. My only regret is that mom didn’t get a chance to experience all the wonderful things this community has to offer.”

“This place is awesome. They have gone above and beyond to ensure the safety of residents and their employees. The staff are tested weekly and they keep the community very clean. The staff treat residents like family and offer activities in small groups and do visits and walks with residents to keep them active. They got their vaccination on Saturday! We are very excited about this! I would highly recommend looking into this place for your loved ones! You could not ask for better care in a beautiful setting! The building is just beautiful, it's not too big and not too small. The one bedroom apartment has two huge walk in closets and is just the right size.”

“I am a resident and the staff here are very nice. Everyone does their job and they do it very well. All staff are hired for certain departments and they have been trained well to execute their work. The community was recently renovated and it looks very nice - new floors, paint, furniture, etc. I always feel very safe and know that if I need any help, the staff will be there for me. I love living here and so thankful this is my home.”

“Cedarhurst of Woodland Hills is fantastic and has been such a blessing for my mom. The staff truly care about the residents. They go above and beyond to make sure their residents are happy, safe, and involved. My mom raves about how good the food and menu selection has been the last several months. They serve fresh, healthy options rather than the typical institutional food. I couldn’t ask for a better place for my mom to call home. She loves her apartment and feels safe and comfortable there. She’s made some good friends as well. I highly recommend Cedarhurst of Woodland Hills!”
