Times are Changing for Senior Living
02.03.16

Times are changing! Seniors are not moving into senior living communities because they HAVE to or because the NEED to, it’s because they WANT to! Social interaction and activities are such a vital, important part of a healthy, active life. At Cedarhurst of Shiloh our activities are more than just BINGO and playing cards.

Earlier this year, our ladies in Memory Care had a slumber party! Everyone got into their jammies early – just after dinner – and the fun began! They had a blast dancing along with music videos such as The Chicken Dance. The ladies giggled while telling stories and having a few drinks. Later they ordered in pizza and wings. They then finished the night with popcorn and a movie.

Times are Changing for Senior Living

Coming up in February it is time for the men to have a little fun. Gateway Classic Cars in O’Fallon will be hosting us for a private tour and lunch. It will be great for the men to reminisce about the cars they had through the years, and to be able to take a look back in time.  The men will also be bringing their sons and grandsons along for the trip.

Then there is Valentine’s Day! We will be setting up our dining room for fine dining that day.  Tables will be set with holiday-themed linens and centerpieces. The menu will include steak and shrimp (a little surf & turf), champagne and a delicious desert. The residents will also receive flowers and a sweet treat from our staff.  That afternoon we will be sharing love stories while enjoying fruit and our chocolate fountain.

It may seem to some that we may go a little overboard, but we sure do like spoiling our residents and having a wonderful time. The look on their faces and the appreciation they show us is priceless. That is what it is all about – Health, happiness and people to share it with.
